Who we are

We are a Nigerian international Organisation Strengthening Peace-building and Expanding Livelihood opportunities Justice Development And Caritas Foundation Otukpo is a faith based and a non-profit organization. It is the socio-economic arm of the Catholic Secretariat Otukpo.

The Commission has the Episcopal authority of the Local Ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo to partner and associate with governmental, non-governmental organizations and bodies to advocate and promote for just and equitable, social, economic, political policies and structures that will promote the welfare of the populace. It could also be said to be the humanitarian institution of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo.

It was established in 1997 as Justice, Development and Peace Commission as one of the pioneer institutions of the Diocese. Since its establishment, the Foundation has been working assiduously, and sometimes in collaboration with other stakeholders to advocate for and champion social systems and structures that foster justice, love, and peace. Emancipation of the poor and vulnerable of society is the central focus of the work of JDCF.

Having registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria to operate as a faith-based Non-governmental Organization, JDCF has the legal approval to work within Nigeria at both national and local levels. JDCF is incorporated with registration number CAC161819.

Justice Development And Caritas Foundation

JDCF operates under three departments – Administration, Programmes, and Finance. The Organization is headed by a coordinator who is the Chief Executive Officer. The coordinator reports directly to the bishop of Otukpo. The coordinator oversees the Administrative, Programmes, and Finance departments of the Organization.

The Programme Department is responsible for the design and implementation of all projects of JDCF. Every project undertaken by JDCF is headed by a Project Desk Officer, while all projects are coordinated by the Program Manager. The Finance Department is headed by the accountant, who also doubles as the Account Officer for all JDCF projects. The accountant is assisted by an Account Assistant. Currently, JDCF has 6 permanent staff, 2 volunteers, and several ad hoc staff who are hired on a project basis when the need for support workers arises. The bishop of Otukpo diocese is the legal holder of JDCF, and he also doubles as the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT).

JDCF works across 9 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue state. These include are: Ado, Agatu, Apa, Obi, Ogbadibo, Oju, Okpokwu, Ohimini and Otukpo, collectively referred hereinafter as the project area.
